The brand-new Mazda CX-90 for 2024 is the heir apparent to the popular Mazda CX-9 crossover, bringing you a larger and more upscale version of this superb three-row SUV. The engine and performance
The 2024 CX-90 is the first Mazda model to feature a new turbocharged 3.3-liter six-cylinder engine that's enhanced by a 48-volt hybrid system. According to Mazda, that powertrain can generate 280 horsepower in non-S trims and 340 horsepower in S models. In addition, there’s an available plug-in hybrid variation that uses the same 323-horsepower configuration found in the Mazda CX-60 SUV that's marketed in Europe.
An 8-speed automatic transmission comes standard and so does all-wheel drive. According to the editors at Car and Driver, the Mazda CX-90 with the inline 6-cylinder engine can reach 60 mph in 6.3 seconds on highways around Fort Carson and Fountain, CO.
Fuel economy
According to the EPA, the 2024 Mazda CX-90 can give you as much as 24 MPG on city streets and 28 MPG on highways near communities like Woodland Park and Pueblo CO. When Car and Diver performed its own highway fuel economy test, the new CX-90 did even better at 29 MPG.
Interior comfort
The cabin in the all-new Mazda CX-90 is another strong suit for this brand-new vehicle, providing room for as many as eight passengers. If you select the optional second-row captain’s chairs, total seating capacity comes in at seven. Higher-end models have a fabric dashboard that's very attractive and the seats in those upper trims come with soft Nappa leather. Starting with the Preferred trim, just above the entry-level Select model, you’ll get the luxury of genuine leather upholstery.
Interior highlights
Inside the 2024 Mazda CX-90 you can find a 10.25-inch touch screen display, wired smartphone connectivity and an eight-speaker stereo system. Other standard features include a tri-zone automatic climate control system and proximity keyless entry. The new CX-90 offers available upgrades like a big 12.3-inch display, wireless smartphone connectivity, satellite radio, wireless device charging and a premium Bose stereo with 12 speakers.
Other available interior options include an automatically-dimming rear-view mirror, a household-style power outlet and a panoramic sunroof. The 2024 Mazda CX-90 gives you 14.9 cubic feet of space in the three-seat third row or 15.9 cubic seat in the two-seat third row variation. If you fold down the third row you'll get about 40 cubic feet and with all the rear seats folded, you can get as much as 75.2 cubic feet.
Safety technology
The new Mazda CX-90 for 2024 comes with a long list of standard safety features including a forward collision warning system, lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, a rear-view camera and rear cross-traffic alert. You can upgrade to an available head-up display and a surround-view parking camera system.
