2024 MAZDA CX-5 vs 2024 Toyota RAV4

Serving Colorado Springs & Fort Carson, CO

The Mazda CX-5 and the Toyota RAV4 are among top possibilities for crossover SUV shoppers to consider. These two-row, compact crossovers are in the middle of the current generations for the 2024 model year. However, while the 2024 Toyota RAV4 is unchanged from last year's model, the 2024 Mazda CX-5 has a few updates. How do the RAV4 and Mazda CX-5 compare?

Performance

In 2024, Mazda introduces the Carbon Turbo trim. This is now the first trim in the lineup that is available with the turbo 2.5-liter, four-cylinder, 227-horsepower engine. Lower trims come with a standard 2.5-liter, four-cylinder, 187-horsepower engine. The full Mazda CX-5 trim lineup has standard all-wheel drive and a six-speed auto transmission. The 2024 RAV4 comes with the same 2.5-liter, four-cylinder, 203-horsepower engine for all trims. This features an eight-speed auto transmission and standard front-wheel drive for most trims. All-wheel drive is an upgrade for most trims and is standard for the Adventure and TRD Off-Road.

Appearance

The 2024 Mazda CX-5 has enviable styling with an aerodynamic shape and smooth, flowing surfaces. The U-shaped grille and the short bumper are expansive and trend to a point on the sides—the grille links to piercing LED headlights. The 2024 RAV4 has a flatter profile with a raked rear and sharply angled, molded wheel wells. Both the grille and larger bumper have a comprehensive, A-style shape. The headlights have a geometric feel with sharp corners through the LED elements.

Features

The Mazda CX-5 is impressively appointed with features such as a surround-view camera, parking sensors, a driver attention warning, a navigation system, leather upholstery, wood trim, a 10.25-inch central display screen, heated seats, a Bose audio system, a head-up display, a power liftgate, a wireless charging pad, a wireless connection for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a heated steering wheel and others. The RAV4 has an 8-inch touch display screen, wireless smartphone app connections, a six-speaker sound system, a hotspot, satellite radio, and several driver-assist features in its starting trim level.
